The other good news is that the global cruise industry is enjoying unprecedented growth despite the economic downturn of recent years and demand continues to outstrip supply.
- 2017 saw the addition of 14 new ships and port of call, and currently there are 26 new luxury mega ships to be delivered by 2018 and 2019.
- The industry is expecting 17 million cruise passengers in 2018, a 6,6% increase over the previous year.

- The cruise industry supports over 500,000 seafaring jobs and this is expected to grow at 9.6% till at least 2020.
